Defence cultural contest concludes

MUSCAT — The 8th cultural competition of the Defence Ministry, the Sultan's Armed Forces and the Royal Guard of Oman concluded on Monday night. The closing ceremony was held under the auspices of Shaikh Salim bin Hilal al Khalili, Minister of Agriculture, in the presence of Chief of Staff of the Sultan's Armed Forces Lieutenant General Ahmed bin Harith al Nabhani.

Acting Head of Moral Guidance who is also the head of the organising committee, spoke on the occasion. The competition included two contests — a quiz with the participation of seven teams representing the Ministry of Defence, Sultan's Armed Forces, Royal Guard of Oman and the Engineering Services. The other contest for individuals included Quran memorisation, scientific research, essay, poetry, short stories, drawing, Arabic choreography and photography.

The Engineering Services team won the first position in the quiz contest, while the Royal Aviation Forces of Oman came second. The chief guest distributed prizes to the winners. The event was also attended by top SAF officials, members of Majlis Addawla and dignitaries. — ONA
