Oman-Europe tourism workshop begins today

MUSCAT — The Ministry of Tourism is organising here today at Barr al Jissah Resort a joint workshop that will bring together representatives of travel and tourism agencies from Germany, Scandinavia, Austria and Switzerland with their Omani counterparts. The workshop is aimed at boosting and promoting incoming tourism, particularly from German and Scandinavian markets which were affected by the world economic crisis.

The goal is to familiarise members of the European delegation with cultural and tourism sites of attraction in the Sultanate to promote the same at their respective countries. The programme the Ministry of Tourism prepared for the 120-strong delegation involves industry meetings, property inspections and familiarisation tours that include Musandam and Salalah.

The initiative highlights Europe’s, especially Germany’s, importance in the Ministry of Tourism’s international marketing strategy. The delegation of travel specialists participating with Omani counterparts in a two-day workshop and travel fair comprises German (93), Austrian (15), Swiss (8), Denmark (2) and Finland (2). — ONA
