SOHAR — Participants in Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) symposium yesterday disclosed Sohar Port and Industrial Zone is the most expanding zone in the region. They said figures show that more than $40 billion were pumped to attract investment in the zone. They expected to launch huge investment projects in the future after Sultanate has provided laws and investment incentives.

The zone generated more than 15,000 jobs for Omanis and the figures will increase with expansion. As part of the development, new projects were established, including asphalt refinery, new supporting power plant, urea project — which will produce 3,500 tonnes of urea. On industrial estates in general, the speakers said the projects established a free zone in Duqm and industrial estates in Samayil, Barka and Ibri. — Oman Arabic daily
