SALALAH — A ceremony was held here yesterday at the Al Baleed Archaeological Park to mark laying of the foundation stone of Al Baleed Resort under the auspices of Abdulaziz bin Mohammed al Rowas, His Majesty the Sultan’s Adviser for Cultural Affairs.
The event was attended by Dr Rajha bint Abdulameer bin Ali, Minister of Tourism and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the government investment company Omran.
The inauguration was also attended by members of Majlis Addawla and Majlis Ash’shura, officials, shaikhs and dignitaries of the Governorate of Dhofar.
Rowas said he was delighted to attend the occasion, particularly when it coincides with the 40th anniversary of the blessed Renaissance led by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos.
He said the step is considered the first in road to enrich the area. It also stands, he said, as a clear example of building luxurious projects while keeping intact the natural environment.
Rowas congratulated Omran and Musteer Company for their commitment and identical vision in building lavish tourism that is suitable for the environment as well as the authentic Omani heritage.
In turn, Dr Rajha said the Resort will represent a leading tourism attraction in the Sultanate and a marvellous achievement for Omran and Musteer Company. — ONA
